Guilford Welcome Center Repaving
July 7, 2019 to August 23, 2019
The Center will be closed to trucks, buses, and RVs during the construction project. An alternative parking location map is available below.
Project Location: The Southeastern Vermont Welcome Center in Guilford on I-91 is the largest, most visited in the State of Vermont. Located 5 ½ miles north of the Massachusetts state line and about 1 mile south of Exit 1 in Brattleboro, approximately 3,000 visitors drop into the facility during peak summer days.
Project Purpose: VTrans is resurfacing the Welcome Center parking lot, including entrance and exit ramps. During construction the welcome center will not be accessible to any truck, bus, or RV traffic. Alternative parking locations (including overnight) have been authorized at the existing weigh station south of the Welcome Center. Pull-off areas on I-91 are also available on I-91 in Putney, and at the facilities located at Exit 7 on I-91 (see map at left).
Active construction will begin immediately after the July 4th weekend and will last seven weeks.
The Welcome Center building will be closed for up to four nights to pave the entrance and exit ramps. Ramp closures will occur between the hours of 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. from Sunday evening through Thursday morning.
When the car parking area is paved, visitors will use the truck/bus parking area.
For the duration of construction, the Guilford Welcome Center will not be accessible to any truck, bus or RV traffic.
